I got to know that KBK received a peltry Rs 115.02 crore for development during 2007-08, of which, only Rs. 82.46 crore has been reportedly utilized for healthcare, education, drinking water and food.

It would be pleasurable surprise for my friend Raja, when he will visit his home next month. For, he is likely to walk over the much awaited, highly urged and first ever, Railway over Bridge (ROB) of Berhampur. East Coast Railways has promised the completion of ROB by March. It took almost four years to reach the final phase of construction.

It is heartening to note the fact; the leaders cutting across the party politics have admitted the loophole, prevail in our educational system. Hundreds and thousands of trained teachers (B Ed and CT candidates) are jobless, while untrained people are recruited as para teachers, education volunteers and so on. Most of the aspirant candidates are crossing their age limit. Is the fate of trained teacher’s dark? It is high time government should take necessary steps in teachers’ selection. After all, education is the prerequisite for economic development.
