Orissa government is under furious attack from all quarters, following the February 15 naxal attack that claimed nearly fourteen police personnel including two women and a civilian in Nayagarh district. It is the second major naxal attack in the last two years.
The naxal tentacle is gradually engulfing the state. The disturbing figure of the latest attack is police department’s open announcement that they lack advanced arms and ammunitions, sufficient police personnel to counter the naxal outfits. When police department is unsafe, what about the common man? The threat is now clearly visible.
In the back drop this, should the government of Orissa take a tough stand (Tit-for-Tat) towards the naxals or go into a dialogue with them as urged by the several human rights activists?
